Its common name derives from its lustrous, green leaves, which certainly resemble those of the Bay - and they are even pleasantly aromatic when crushed too.

A most beautiful, medium size tree with a rounded growth habit, the catkins are produced at the same time as the leaves in late spring.

Very good for parks.
